Creating Cinematics

Hayden Skroch

Many games that are out there have storylines. In those same games, in order to tell the story and get info to the players, those games include cutscenes and cinematics. In Nekiri’s Tail, since it is a story-based game, we plan on using the same cinematics and cutscenes to get our story out there. They will also be used to show points of interest in our game.

Since we are using Unreal Engine to make said cinematics, we will go over what is called the sequencer which is provided in Unreal. Using the sequencer, we were able to make the clips with a moving camera and can move different objects within said camera view and can even show dialogue which another groupmate implemented. With the combination of dialogue, camera work and object movements, we can create a full cinematic. We plan on making multiple cinematics for our levels.
